Description
What is it: The Mycelial Network Oversized Graphic Crewneck Sweatshirt is a 350 GSM heavyweight cotton fleece crewneck cut with a dropped shoulder and an oversized body, carrying a full-back print of the Mycelial Network artwork. Available in Washed Black, Black, and Retro Green.
What is the artwork on the back?
One white line engraving running most of the length of the back. At the centre stands a single vast mushroom, its cap opened into a geometric rosette like a stained-glass window, crowned with faceted crystal shards and a crescent moon at the apex with a small seated figure beneath it. The stipe splits open into a doorway, and through it you can see a night sky full of stars. Beneath that the whole thing dissolves into a sprawling root system, threaded with smaller mushrooms, grass and drifting orbs.
It is drawn entirely in fine white line work, so it reads as a single pale crest from across a room and as hundreds of small details up close. Original and exclusive to Phantasmagorical.
The front stays deliberately quiet. One small Phantasmagorical flame mark sits on the left chest in a teal to orange gradient, the only color anywhere on the piece.
What is the Mycelial Network design about?
Beneath every forest runs a network older than any of us. The mycelium, the fine pale threads that lace through the soil, linking tree to tree and root to root, trading nutrients and warnings across miles of darkness. Scientists call it the wood wide web. We call it proof that nothing living is ever truly alone.
That is why the roots take up as much of this drawing as the mushroom does. The fruiting body is the part you see. The network is the part that matters.
Why 350 GSM matters on a crewneck
Most graphic sweatshirts are built on 250 to 280 GSM fleece, which is exactly why they go limp after a season. At 350 GSM, or 10.3 oz/yd2, this sits well inside heavyweight territory. It holds the shoulder line instead of collapsing off it, it does not cling, and the fabric carries enough body that the oversized cut reads as intentional rather than sloppy. Warm enough to wear on its own through autumn, cut roomy enough to layer over a heavyweight tee underneath.
How the oversized drop shoulder fits
The shoulder seam sits below your actual shoulder. That is what gives the sleeve its relaxed break and the body its width, and it is why this is cut noticeably wider than a standard sweatshirt at every size. Chest runs 24.8 inches flat at M up to 27.2 inches flat at 2XL, so even the smallest size here is broader than a typical M. Order your normal size for the intended oversized drape. If you want something closer to a regular fit, size down one.

Sizing Guide
Runs true to size with an intentionally oversized silhouette. Russell (founder) is 6 ft 2 in and 180 lbs and wears L for the intended drape, or XL when he wants more volume.
How to read the table. Every figure is the garment laid flat, which is how our manufacturer specs them. Chest is given two ways: flat is measured straight across the chest, and round is that number doubled, which is the full circumference and the number that matches a chest measurement you take on yourself.

Is 350 GSM actually heavy for a sweatshirt?
Yes. The mass market sits around 250 to 280 GSM, and anything at or above roughly 320 GSM is genuinely heavyweight. At 350 GSM this is denser than most premium crewnecks on the market and noticeably more substantial in the hand. The trade off is that it is a real autumn and winter piece rather than a year round one.
Should I size down?
Only if you do not want the oversized look. The drop shoulder and the wide chest are the design, so your usual size gives you the silhouette in the photos. Sizing down one gets you close to a regular fit while keeping a slightly relaxed sleeve. Sizing up mostly adds width rather than length.
Is the graphic on the front or the back?
The large artwork is on the back, printed at 40 x 52 cm so it fills most of the panel. The front carries only a small flame logo on the left chest. It is built to be worn either way: quiet from the front, unmistakable from behind.
How does the print look on Retro Green?
The artwork is printed in the same white line work on all three colorways. On the deep forest Retro Green it reads with more contrast and a slightly cooler cast than it does on black, and the fine root detail at the bottom stands out more. Washed Black gives it the softest, most faded look.
Will the washed black colorway keep fading?
The wash is applied before it ever reaches you, so the mottled tone you see is the baseline rather than something that will wash out to grey. From there it softens and settles the way every Phantasmagorical wash does. The cotton breaks in, the tone deepens in the creases, and it starts looking like a piece you have owned for years. Wash cold on gentle and tumble dry low to keep the print sharp.
Does it shrink?
Minimally if you follow the care instructions. Cold wash and low tumble dry keep it within about a size tolerance. High heat is what shrinks heavyweight cotton fleece, so skip the hot dryer.
What is the return and exchange policy?
Every piece is made to order, so we generally cannot accept returns for a change of mind. Use the size recommender above to lock in your fit and unlock our 30 Day Sizing Guarantee with free exchanges. Defective or damaged? Email Hello@phantasmagorical.co and we will make it right.
