What is it: The Enigma Sunfade Frayed Fleece Hoodie is a 350 GSM pullover in a brushed poly-cotton fleece, sun-faded and vintage washed so the color sits in soft clouds rather than a flat block, with frayed detailing set at production and the Enigma line-art print across the back. Loose H-line body, drop shoulder, kangaroo pocket, ribbed cuffs and hem. Phantas Teal, Phantas Orange, or Light Gray, sizes S to 2XL.
What is the Enigma design about?
Black line work, printed full size across the back. At the crown, a single open eye with rays for lashes. Beneath it a column of moon phases runs straight down the center like a spine. Two arched doorways sit on either side, their interiors textured like fingerprints, and from each one a staircase descends, the two flights meeting above a stand of tall grass rising out of a rippling pool. Step back and the outer edges resolve into two profile faces with spiral eyes and roses at the jaw, looking away from each other.
Two doors, two ways down, one water. From the bottom you cannot tell which stair you took, and the eye at the top already knew that. That is the enigma. Original artwork, exclusive to Phantasmagorical.
The front carries the Phantasmagorical wordmark in arched, melting psychedelic lettering across the chest.
What 350 GSM means in a fleece hoodie
Most hoodies sold as heavyweight sit between 280 and 340 GSM. This one is 350, which is 10.3 oz per square yard, in a brushed fleece knit that the supplier rates extra thick. It has enough body to hold the drop shoulder line instead of collapsing off it, and enough warmth to be the outer layer on a cold night without a jacket over it.
The blend is 53% polyester, 42% cotton and 5% other fibers, and the polyester majority is deliberate. It is what lets the sunfade settle into soft gradients instead of blotches, and it is why the body keeps its shape and length wash after wash where an all-cotton fleece would slowly shrink and twist. Cotton gives it the hand. Polyester makes it keep it.
The sunfade wash and the fraying
The wash goes on after the garment is sewn, so the tone shifts across the panels, pools lighter where the fabric caught more of the fade and darker in the seams. Every hoodie comes out of the wash slightly different from the one before it. The small frayed openings across the body and sleeves are placed at production as hand finishing, so they stay where they were put rather than running or growing. Raw edges, wabi sabi, the whole thing arriving as if it already has a few winters behind it and softening from there.

Cut long and wide with a loose H-line body and a deep drop shoulder. Order your normal size for the oversized look in the photos, or size down one if you want it closer to the body. For reference, Russell (founder) is 6'2", 180 lbs and wears L or XL in this hoodie, the same as our other hoodies: L for a standard fit, XL when he wants it more relaxed. This blank runs about an inch fuller in the chest and a few inches longer in the body than our boxy cropped hoodies, so it covers the hip rather than sitting above it.
Every figure below is the garment laid flat, in inches. Chest is given two ways: flat is straight across, and round is that number doubled, which is the full circumference and the number that matches a chest measurement you take on yourself.
