What is it: The PsySquatch Snow Wash Oversized Tee is a 250 GSM tee in 100% cotton, snow washed after it is sewn so the color breaks into a fine mineral mottle instead of sitting flat. Loose body, drop shoulder, ribbed crew collar, with the PsySquatch line art printed full size across the back and the Phantasmagorical drop mark on the left chest. Bean Green, Black, or Purple Haze, sizes S to 3XL.
What is the PsySquatch design about?
Fine white pen and ink line work, printed full size across the back. A sasquatch walks in profile mid stride, head turned back over its shoulder toward you, every hair drawn in individually. A third eye sits open in green on its forehead. Behind the head and shoulders a Flower of Life mandala is drawn in single weight line, wide enough to read as a halo. Teal filaments run out of its back and down its arm and fan into a hanging root system, and at its feet a cluster of mushrooms pushes up through soil threaded with rust orange roots.
A century of grainy footage went looking for an animal hiding in the woods. This one is not hiding, and it is not separate from what it walks through: the mycelium is growing out of its back, the mushrooms are coming up where it steps. The woods are what is walking. What 250 GSM means in a t-shirt
A fast fashion tee runs 145 to 180 GSM. This one is 250, which is 7.4 oz per square yard, in 100% cotton. You feel it picking the shirt up. It falls off the shoulder with weight behind it instead of clinging, the drop shoulder holds its line through the day, and you cannot see your hand through it held up to a light. Heavier cotton also takes a wash better, which is the reason for the next section.
The snow wash and the drop shoulder
The snow wash goes on after the garment is sewn. It lifts pigment unevenly across the panels and leaves a fine pale mottle over the body with deeper color still held in the seams and the collar rib. Every tee comes out of it slightly different from the one before it. The finish is entirely in the color, so the fabric itself comes to you whole and softens from there.
The body is cut loose with a drop shoulder, so the sleeve seam sits down the arm rather than on the joint and the whole shirt falls square. That is the silhouette the back print needs. A closer cut would wrap the artwork around the ribs and you would lose the mandala.
